Dog days

Ever since our beautiful Golden Retriever died in November, our house has been empty without a canine presence.

For a while now, we were wanting to get another dog but we decided to wait a little bit while we mourned Delilah and so that people didn’t think we were replacing her.

And after a trip to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home a few weeks ago, here he is…

This is Boris, our little mongrel pup.

We don’t know what he is exactly, but he’s probably going to be huge.

He and his siblings were found abandoned at two weeks old and were hand-reared.

He is now 13 weeks and because he didn’t have a mother, he has never been disciplined so we’re having to be really strict with him, but he’s still a sweetheart.

We were always set on getting a rescue dog. Why should anyone have to pay a ludicrous amount of money to a breeder just to get a dog whose great-grandmother won a prize once when there are so many perfectly good dogs in places like Battersea in need of a loving home?

If you’ve got a rescue dog, tell me about them, I’d love for you to send pictures.
